The easiest place to shop is in the nearby village of Kilgetty. It’s a hop by car. A hop and a skip by bike and a hop, skip and jump on foot. It’s the other site of the main dual carriageway that you came in on to the Beach Hut. Drive back the way you came and cross the main road and travel up the
hill. Go under the railway bridge and you will find a large Coop store with just about everything that you will need.

There is also lots of free parking at the back of the store and a free cash machine. If you decide to walk go back to the bridge at the main entrance and take the paths up to the top of the hill. There’s a little bit of road walking involved but nothing to much of a problem.

Kilgetty is also really useful as it has the Seven Spice, one of the best Indian restaurants in the area, a Chinese take away and a chip shop. You will also find a barbers, hair dresser, pharmacy and should you need one, a doctors surgery. The train station is also useful as the trains go into Tenby and Carmarthen. It’s a request stop so put out your arm as if you were stopping a bus and make sure you tell the guard that you want to get off there!

Close to the train station is the locals pub the White Horse. It has one of the best pints of Felinfoel Double Dragon around and its very handy to pop in for a cheeky one when you are waiting for you take away!

Carmarthen is about twenty minutes away by car and is the best shopping experience in the area. Here you will not only find all the big stores including Debenhams, a huge Tesco and Morrison’s but lots of small, independent shops as well. The town is much bigger than you might expect and the indoor market is a delight. It’s here that you will also find the multi screen cinema, the Range, PC World , Argos and a Wetherspoons not to mention the castle and the river!

Closer to home for shopping is Saundersfoot where you will find a Tesco Metro and a Spar. For big supermarkets close to home try Pembroke Dock [not Pembroke it’s a different town!] where you will find a big Asda and another Morrison’s.

If you fancy going a little bit further then Haverfordwest, the county town of Pembrokeshire is well worth a visit. Here again you will find the big shops and lots of small shops. It’s on the river and still has the feel of a county town. Park down by the bus station and walk in across the river: its very pretty.

There’s lots of places to eat and drink including one of the finest buildings that Wetherspoons has ever adapted as a pub.
